We're Home!

Let us introduce you to some of our members' animal companions and those who have found their forever homes!

We want to thank Debby, our Foster Mom, for helping us find our forever homes!

Arby's Story

Ajax
Ajax has found his forever home! A note from his new mom....

"I just love him so much...he follows me everywhere.

He loves the kids, he sleeps right next to my granddaughter when she stays with me, I tried to move him over to my side of the bed and he got up and went back to her side. Even the baby, he knows she is little, so he goes over to her, and gently licks her in the face then walks away.

I got him some of those chew bones, he chewed up three in two days, and squeaky toys, he loves them, throws them up into the air and chases after them. He is so spirited.

Ajax has made an important change in my life, I love him so much...and you are the best for what you do...I admire you so much.

If you ever need help on the weekends with the dogs at your shelter, please let me know, I'd love to volunteer.

Hugs right back at you... :-)"

And here's Shanti-Clair with her
new sister and Mom, Ericka!

Lizzie with Morgan, her new mom!

Shhhhh.....Someone's Got A Secret!

Thanks to our Ohio Chapter, we're finally home!
Tess
Tess has finally found her forever home and is enjoying the life of leisure that she deserves.....with US! When we rescued Tess, along with various medical problems, she was suffering from a severe yeast infection which left her with no fur on her chest or legs. A wonderful, kind, benevolent sponsor is paying her medical expenses, another way you can help! Sponsor any foster or special needs animal like Tess and you will be helping another find a forever home.
Wally
Wally has found his forever home with Janet and her family! "Wally had been dumped in the night drop box at a kill shelter in the worst condition the shelter has ever seen a dog.•They called me stating that he wasn't adoptable due to his condition. He couldn't walk on one leg since it had been matted to his side for so long,•He also had wire wrapped around his foot and tail, and as a result, lost part of his tail.•He is also about 12 years old and had serious trust issues.•If I hadn't committed to him over the phone, he would have been euthanized.•I got in my van, drove 2 hours to get him, and the rest is history."
Zappa
Zappa (formerly known as Emmett) is a Chinese Crested I bought at the Buckeye Dog Auction in November of 2004. He originally came from a puppy mill in West Virginia. The poor little guy was petrified for a whole week when I brought him home. He was one of our successful foster placements and is doing so well in his new home. He is still a bit shy, but his adoptive parents are very kind and patient. He has a wonderful home with a huge fenced yard. They have two other dogs, Zeus, a Bichon, and Petunia, another Chinese Crested hairless. Here he is proudly sporting his fancy new jammies that I made for him. Yep, he's fancy!

Angel
Angel has a wonderful new family and a baby sister only minutes from his foster home so he will still be able to visit his foster mom and buddies! Here's a happy, tired little Angel with his new mom, Joady, and getting to know his new sister, Bailey! And then another new additon, Henri, a Bichon Poodle puppy who was rescued from the Buckeye Dog Auction in June 2006, making this one happy crew!

Holly
Holly is a miniature Schnauzer who was another lucky soul rescued from the Buckeye Dog Auction along with Henri. Foster mom, Janet, already had an adoptive home in mind for Holly, a former puppymill mom, where she is enjoying the life of love she so deserves!

Bindi (formerly Katie)
Bindi is a Chinese Crested Powderpuff who Janet rescued from a high-kill shelter in Pennsylvania. Another member of our Ohio Chapter, Rachel Grimm, fostered and rehabilitated Katie and helped to redirect her high level of energy by having her wear a backpack and go for a long walk each day. Bindi has found a wonderful new home with parents who understand and welcome her energy with frequent walks and trips to the beach. She shares a home with two other dogs, Nellie and Ernie.

And here's a new update from her mom:
"Miss Bindi is doing just wonderful. She is picking up Nellie and Ernie's bad habits. She used to jump on the bed at night when it was time to go to sleep but after watching the lazy Nellie and Ernie all these months she has decided to stand and wait to 'placed' in bed also. Her interaction with the others is better all the time and there are periods of insanity in the house with three dogs racing up and down the stairs, around tables etc. I'd take a video of them but they are just streaks. Bindi still has the occasional potty accident but not as frequent as before. Bindi has curbed her eating - she would finish everybody's dinner - I guess she was not secure enough to think there would be dinner tomorrow. Now she checks over her meal to see if is 'suits' her - just like the other two. She has never had a problem with the cat and she is fine with men. When we are out she will bark at people - but I have noticed that it seems she is trying to protect me which is very sweet. We just love her and I can't imagine life without her. The only difference between Bindi and the other two is that she truly seems to appreciate things - we can just tell. It is so different from ones we had from puppies. When I pick her up and snuggle and give her kisses she just seems to not really believe it. After snuggle time is over and she walks away, she has a spring to her step and her tail is up high!"

Paris
A note to Rachel from Paris' new mom says it best!

"Rachel,

I am totally in love....she is a well trained sweet little girl and she handled the being transported and going to different people very well.....LouAnn has already sent me messages that if it doesn't work out, they would love to take her....(like they have a prayer of that~~but as you know with rescue, most of them fear men, but Paris went right to LouAnn's husband so he is the one that kept saying, are you sure we can't keep her!) Then Pat was trying real hard to find an excuse for her to stay in Ohio....not a chance of that either!

As Janet will confirm, I really debated this...and I now know I made the right decision. I really want to commend you, she is well trained....has had no accidents (even in a house where accidents are common--which is both Pat's and my house)...she seems to have overcome her bad beginnings and quite honestly, she is better trained than my own dogs...LOL. Of course, once she settles in, she may lose some of that quietness and good pottying habits.....bad influence that my dogs may be!

Really, a job well done and you were a great foster Mom to her and I will always be grateful for that and for being allowed to add her to our furkids.

I am assuming she has not been microchipped and will get her an appt next week. Thanks for her clothes also and I just happened to bring along some for her and have included pictures."

And another update from Paris' mom:

"Been getting Paris ready for Ande's Webmuttster contest so I thought I would share pics of the FuFoo Queen. It also drives Ande green with envy which is just an added bonus for me! Paris absolutely love clothes and she actually lowers her head for me so that I can get her clothes over her head."

Sugar
Sugar's name really suits her because she is the sweetest little girl in the world! Even though she is missing an eye, you can see her new mom and dad just love her to pieces! Congratulations, Sugar, for finding your forever home!

Red and Junior
Red and Junior enjoying a nap together on a cold winter day! Says Janet, "It took four months to bring him into thehouse. Now look at him!"

Copper & Molly
Copper found a wonderful new home and new sister, Molly, also an American Pit Bull Terrier. Obviously, they simply adore each other! From Copper's new mom: "Just wanted to send you a new pic of Copper and Molly. He's doing great! He's such a happy and good dog. Hope to see you at the dog park sometime soon!"

Elliot
Elliot was rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Ohio during a late winter storm and sub-zero temps. The shelter did not have enough room and the “overflow” animals were housed in an unheated barn. They contacted our Ohio chapter and Janet rescued Elliot, an young apricot miniature poodle, along with an elderly Shih Tzu, who immediately found her forever home.

Elliot was seized from his previous owners due to neglect. He was filthy, severely matted, and was suffering from an upper respiratory infection and kennel cough. He had never lived indoors and did not know how to live inside a house. He was unfamiliar with stair steps, furniture, walking on a leash, and was not housebroken.

Once Elliot was better, he quickly learned how wonderful it was to live inside a house, climb stairs, sleep on a soft couch and bed, how to walk on a leash, and that good boys go potty outside. Then Elliot found his forever home, right around the corner from his foster home, where he still enjoys frequent visits!

Elliot brings much joy to his new mom everyday and is now completely housebroken. He is learning good manners and how to be a loved and appreciated family member. We are thrilled with his progress and the new home he has found. And as you can see, Elliot is a very smart little boy!

Boo
Boo is a Chinese Crested powderpuff who came to us along with her lifetime mate, Amos, a Chinese Crested hairless, because their owner was going through a divorce. Boo was full of ticks and had not been spayed, and was in dire need of a dental for which Boo ended up losing 11 teeth as a result of neglect, Amos has a heart murmur, and both of them had been de-barked! All their veterinary expenses were paid for by the foster home. Boo has been adopted, but Amos is still looking for his forever home.

But for all their expenses and rehabilitation both Boo and Amos needed, when her foster mom received this note and picture from Boo's new mom, it's just reaffirmed that it's all worthwhile.

"I honestly do not know what my life was like before Boo....how did I make it? I love this little girl so much, we both have separation anxiety if we are apart. I look at her and swear that I could only wish that I got her sooner, that is my only regret...and that is it.  I can not imagine me without her. Thank you for being my angel that brought us together, Janet..I am eternally grateful." ~J.

Amos is still available for adoption if you can find room in your heart and in your home for this adorable guy! Click here or paste this URL into your browser window to see Amos:

Our foster homes all pay their own veterinary and other rescue expenses. Please see our "Sponsor Me" page for ways you can help. Boo, Amos, and others like them will be eternally grateful for your generosity!

And this is Adell's little Char Mei and her story....

This is my beautiful Char Mei. She came from Missouri--Bo Do Tri Kennels, some of the worst around. She was sold to a pet shop in Boston where she did not sell and was bought by a clerk in the store and bred to get her money back. She had puppies before she was a year old. She was rescued from that person when the breeder discovered they are not that easy to sell. A breeder near Boston knew I was looking for an older crested for agility and offered me Char Mei. Char is the sweetest girl around. She welcomes each reacue dog into the house and shows them the ropes. If nothing else, when you are having a very blue day, she makes you smile.
This is Irish Char! We were visiting the nursing home Friday night and spotted these. I couldn't resist a picture with my new camera. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
