Spotlight on our Special Friends!

This month the spotlight is on two of our most unique and special friends who are looking for their forever homes. Meet standard Xolo Monica, and Comet, an adorable Beagle/Basset mix who is trying hard to win your heart.

Monica

Monica is a standard Xoloitzcuintle (Xolo for short) who weighs about 25 pounds. Her skin is dark (hairless) and she has very short yellowish-blonde hair on her head & a bit on her tail. Like most Xolos, she is reserved with new people, but warms up fairly quickly and is extremely sweet. Due to being hairless, she does have some special considerations, so please research the breed if you are not already familiar with them. Monica is spayed, fully vetted, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is only $200. Why purchase a dog for hundreds of dollars (that still needs vaccinations, spaying, & a microchip) when you can get this darling dog that already has everything? For an application to adopt Monica, please contact Debby Sweet. Monica is being fostered in Templeton, CA.

Comet

Comet is a wonderful 6 - 7 year old Beagle/Basset mix who is looking for his forever home. Comet's human dad passed away a few months ago, so poor Comet lost his home and his family. He is a happy go lucky and very laid back dog who loves life, his foster mom, and his canine brothers. Comet is a special needs boy as he has a heart condition which is treated with inexpensive heart meds. Comet was born with a deformed front paw, but that does not hinder him at all. He loves to run and play with his canine brothers. Comet weighs 30 pounds, is heartworm negative, up to date on his vaccines and he is housebroken. Comet is truly a remarkable and sweet dog will make some very lucky person or family a loving and devoted companion. If you would like an adoption application for Comet, please contact Jeanette Warren. Comet is being fostered in Acworth (Atlanta area), GA.

The following foster homes have dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens who are available for adoption. The first few groups are all dogs, the next groups are made up of foster homes that rescue dogs and cats. The last groups foster cats only. Please be sure to scroll all the way down each list.

You may click on the link in their bio to learn more about them and to contact their foster homes for more information.

Please remember that it is up to the adopter to arrange and pay for the transport of your new animal companion. If you cannot pick them up yourself, there are a few organizations that specialize in the personal transport of animals. Our foster homes generally will not ship animals.

Volunteers Are Needed!
We are always looking for qualified foster homes and volunteers for many other areas in which we need assistance, so please contact us to find out more about our volunteer opportunities!

They are being fostered in Templeton, California

It takes a special soul to foster and adopt the older dogs with problems. We have them for a shorter time, but every second counts, and is a blessing for both them and us. It is hard to say whether we enrich their lives more, or they enrich ours more. Either way, it is sad to say good-bye, but I know they were better off for knowing us and I highly suspect we are better for having loved them. --Debby Sweet, Short 'n Sweet Dog Rescue

You can see our fosters at the Dog Adoptathon every Saturday between 11:00 and 1:00 (except certain holidays) at the North County Human Society located at 2300 Ramona Road, Atascadero CA 93422. We will also show them by appointment, please email us to arrange this.
