Puppy Mills are factories that are used to produce mass amount of puppies to be sold in your local pets stores or to brokers for huge profits.  The adult dogs are kept in cages usually with wire bottoms or sheds where they are deprived of any kind of human contact other than feeding and the removal of their puppies.  These conditions lead to splayed feet, cement callusus, missing hair, missing teeth, serious infections and ear mites and sores and scabs all over their bodies from being left to live in these horrific places.  These dogs and puppies also lack any kind of medical care only because the main objective is to make as much money as possible with the results that most puppy mill puppies are doomed to suffer with health problems all of their lives. Some of these dogs even sit in their cages with broken bones or rotting skin, also without treatment. The females are bred twice a year as soon as they are able to, usually from around 9 months of age to 6 years or until they can't produce large litters any longer. After that, they are lucky to be given to a rescue but most of them will be destined to die.
